The Virgin Voyages Cruise Terminal reimagines the Miami waterfront as a bold, tropical gateway—where landscape and architecture unite to create a seamless, resort-style experience. ArquitectonicaGEO’s landscape design draws inspiration from the historic palm groves that once lined Biscayne Bay, transforming them into a contemporary, living framework for movement, shade, and arrival.

At the heart of the design is a modern palm grove, where native palms and sculptural planting echo the vertical rhythm and filtered light of Miami’s coastal past. These natural elements extend the terminal’s architectural language while providing a sense of place, comfort, and ecological value.

Throughout the site, coastal-adapted native plantings offer lush texture, seasonal interest, and resilience against the marine environment—all while reducing maintenance and water use. Carefully framed views connect visitors to Biscayne Bay and the Miami skyline, reinforcing the feeling of being immersed in the landscape of South Florida.

The departure terrace serves as a vibrant outdoor lounge, with integrated planting and informal seating overlooking the water. Whether waiting to embark or watching ships come and go, guests enjoy a garden-like atmosphere designed to soften the urban edge and elevate the travel experience.

With intuitive pedestrian circulation, immersive greenery, and a strong sense of identity, the landscape design transforms the terminal from a point of transit into a destination in itself—a lush, tropical threshold between city and sea.
