Honoring the memory of UN Peacekeeping troops killed while on duty, this memorial is located in the trees surrounding the UN Headquarters. Patterned, geometric stones of varying patterns and colors are arranged in a grid. Two stones from each continent rise and recess from the stone ground plane, creating seating areas and a reflecting pool. A sheet of glass rises from the stones and is engraved with the quote ‘Remember here those who gave their lives for peace’ in six different languages, a message engraved in a seemingly ephemeral material above a landscape formed from a solid, heavy material.
