University of Miami Life Science Park is a research, development, and treatment facility adjacent to the University of Miami medical campus. ‘Layers of tissue’ were used as inspiration for landscape forms and adjacent contrasting planting types. A pocket park featuring alternating stripes of planting will allow visitors to move between contemplative and expansive spaces in a relatively confined area.
An area between tall research buildings will be covered to provide a year-round indoor/outdoor courtyard. Elements of the landscape are crucial to provide efficient passive cooling in the space to counter the hot & humid south Florida climate.
